Dear All 25th July 2008
As our trip to Peru is only 6 weeks away and as fundraising has come to an end and serious training has begun, we just wanted to make contact to thank all our friends and family for showing tremendous support over the last six months and for being instrumental in raising a whopping £7268.59. This is a fantastic achievement and will go to support this very worth while charity.
We leave for 10 days, flying out from Heathrow on the 5th September and touching down in New York before we fly to Lima. We then take a very short internal flight to Cusco which is where we begin our 6 day trek.
We will be walking in total around 70 kilometeres, far away from the main tourist trails; in fact our itinerary will take us to some of the most undiscovered parts of the Lares region of Peru.
Our route is unique and will show us Peru beyond the beaten track. The terrain will change from hour to hour so we are to expect PLENTY of ups and downs, steep climbs and changing conditions underfoot. Path ways will not always be clear and every day we will walk over fields, through scrubland and up to and over mountain pastures and paths. The highest we go is 4,490 metres so are really hoping the altitude doesn’t affect us!
Caroline and I are truly excited to be anticipating the experience of a life time and looking forward to the departure.
By taking part in this trek, we really are making a massive difference to the lives of people under going a breast cancer diagnosis. We couldn’t have done this challenge without your support, and we are very grateful for the commitment you have shown over the past few months.
Thank you very much.
